Boys, 2, 4, found alone in park

Kids in CPS care

HOUSTON – Two young children found alone in a southeast Houston park were back with their families Thursday, Houston police said.

The children, ages 2 and 4, were placed with child protective service workers Wednesday night. They were found wandering in Schnur Park on Orem at Cullen at around 5 p.m.

The children are from two different families and not related.

A woman told KPRC Local 2 that she was the grandmother of one of the boys and that the whole thing was a misunderstanding. The woman said a family friend was supposed to be watching both of the boys, when somehow the boys wound up at the park.

People saw the boys at the park walking barefoot by themselves and called police.

The children were returned to their families. CPS said it will work with both families to make sure the boys are not left with the wrong type of people again.
