Boy Scout's wish comes true

Houston libraries to open on Saturday

HOUSTON – A Boy Scout's wish is making a difference in Houston.

Boy Scout Luke Mee,11, asked her for more Saturday library hours.

Meeting with Luke and the public on Tuesday, Mayor Annise Parker announced that Houston now has the $3.1 million it needs to grant Luke's wish.

Fourteen public libraries cut off their Saturday hours three years ago, but in April they began to phase those hours back.

This month, 41 Houston libraries will be open on Saturday.
