Navy Lopez and her 6-year-old son, Damion, were traveling in an SUV that was crushed during the accident. Damion suffered scratches and bruises on his face, but his heart was broken when his puppy ran away.

Hours after the crash, Damion's dog was found safe by a wrecker driver helping at the scene. The driver wanted to make sure the dog was returned to his loving family.

The boy and pup were reunited on Friday at the Texas-Louisiana border, where they met and thanked the wrecker driver.
