Body rolled up in carpet found in northwest Harris County

HOUSTON – Harris County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene after a body was found in a wooded area in northwest Harris County.

The body was found Monday afternoon rolled up in carpet near a water treatment plant near Bammel North Houston and Veterans Memorial.

It was discovered by a man and his dog who smelled a foul odor.

Investigators are waiting for the medical examiner to arrive.

It's unclear if the body is a man or a woman because the body is wrapped up and homicide investigators do not want to contaminate any evidence.

Authorities have not determined if the body is 43-year-old Blanca Pena Miranda, who went missing from her home on Saturday.
