Body found in bar parking lot

HOUSTON – A man was found dead in the parking lot of a southwest Houston sports bar early Tuesday.

Houston police said the body was found outside Cube's Sports Bar in the 9600 block of Bissonnet about 6 a.m.

Detectives said the man got into an altercation with four people during a New Year's Eve celebration. The four people were kicked out, but they stayed in the parking lot until the man left the bar, police said.

The man was attacked when he got into the parking lot, investigators said. He was shot multiple times, officials said.

The victim's name has not been released. Detectives said he was 34 years old.

"The parking lot was full when this incident occurred," Sgt. Warren Meeler said. "We know there are a lot of witnesses."

Police said they were trying to get in touch with the owner of the bar to see if anything was caught on surveillance video.

Investigators said this was the second slaying at the sports bar in the past two months. In November, a man was fatally shot after an argument spilled into a parking lot. A suspect has been arrested and charged in that case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
