HOUSTON – A Hazmat spill from an overturned tanker truck has shut down Highway 225 east at Beltway 8.
Houston Transtar cameras show the tanker truck on its side on the La Porte Freeway underneath the East Belt overpass.
Pasadena police said the 18-wheeler was heading south on Highway 225 feeder road and then turned left under the Beltway when the driver said he swerved to avoid another big rig.
The truck fell onto its side, spilling hydrochloric acid onto the road.
Hazmat crews have been called out to the scene to clean up the incident.
Traffic on Highway 225 is stopped in both directions at the intersection, so drivers should find an alternate route.
