HOUSTON – A big rig flipped on its side and caught fire near downtown Houston Friday.
The 18-wheeler overturned on an eastbound ramp on Interstate 10 at U.S. 59. shortly before 1 p.m. Fire officials said paper inside the rig caught fire.

The ramp sustained heavy damage and was shut down as crews worked to clean up debris and work on emergency repairs. Workers welded and patched, but authorities said the permanent repair will be made at a later time.
Authorities expected the ramp to reopen late Friday night.
In the meantime, motorists are advised to take another route.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
