Arrest made in Freeport teen's death that police attribute to Russian roulette

FREEPORT, Texas – A 14-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection with the shooting death Wednesday of a Freeport teenager.

Juan Borja, 13, was shot at a park, according to police. He died en route to the hospital.

Freeport police said Thursday that witnesses reported that Borja brought a gun to the park, showed it to other children, loaded a round of ammunition and commented about playing Russian roulette. They said the 14-year-old pointed the gun at Borja and a shot was fired.

Police said the 14-year-old hid the gun in a field.

The 14-year-old was charged with manslaughter and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.
