Krispy Kreme makes sweet return to Houston

HOUSTON – Doughnut lovers camped outside Krispy Kreme overnight, excited about the return of the franchise to the Houston area.  It has been nine years since the company closed its local shops and pastry lovers have been anxiously awaiting its return ever since.

Campers began lining up Monday outside the store's new location in the 8600 block of Westheimer.

In celebration of the store's opening, the first 100 people in line would receive free doughnuts for a year.  The very first person would be awarded a dozen free glazed donuts once a week for a year, and the next 99 people to follow would receive a dozen free glazed each month for a year.

Welcome back!
