HOUSTON - Dozens of people showed up at Stephanie's Ice House in southeast Houston, looking to help a family in desperation.
Family and friends of Antonio Saldivar sold plates of brisket, trying to raise money to help pay for the burial of the 17-year-old.
Saldivar was found dead last week in the Houston Ship Channel, after he was reported missing nearly two weeks earlier.
But despite the festive mood, Saldivar's loved ones are still grieving and searching for answers.
"If anyone knows anything out there, they need to speak up," said family friend Gerry Ramos.
Saldivar's body was discovered Thursday, nearly two weeks after his car was found wrecked and abandoned on Harrisburg and Navigation on February 15.
"There had to have been something between where his car was found and where his body was found. There's a story there that's untold and we need to find out what happened," said Ramos.
Saldivar's family told Local 2 that he was last seen heading to his girlfriend's house on Valentine's Day.
Houston police said witnesses reported last speaking to Saldivar about 20 minutes before the discovery of the accident.
"We just need answers from anyone out there, even if you have a little clue," said Ramos.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
