A man who has made headlines with his unusual name is accused of assaulting a college police officer and a Washington state sheriff.
Beezow Doo-doo Zopittybop-bop-bop, 34, has been charged with two counts of first-degree assault, third-degree assault, third-degree malicious mischief as well as malicious harassment, according to police, who referred to him by his original name. Zopittybop-bop-bop has been reported in the past as homeless and having been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
According to NBC Chicago, an Evergreen State College police officer responded to a report that someone was tearing down fliers in the entrance of the school's library when a suspect led the officer on a chase. The officer was able to catch the suspect and get him to the ground, but he tried to take the officer's gun
The officer and the suspect continued to struggle. According to the report in The Olympian, the suspect allegedly bit the officer's finger several times and tried to stab him using an ink pen. The officer hit him and used a Taser, but he ended up getting away.
A deputy with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office spotted the suspect and followed him into a wooded area, according to the paper. The deputy hit the suspect several times with a baton, but he was able to get way again. He was eventually captured and arrested.
Zopittybop-bop-bop appeared in Thurston County Superior Court Monday where his bail was set at $50,000.
The college made a statement about the incident: "We are relieved to report that the officer was released from the hospital and is resting at home, expected to make a full recovery."
According to NBC Chicago, Zopittybop-bop-bop was born with the name Jeffrey Drew Wilschke. He legally changed it in 2011. Zopittybop-bop-bop said in an interview with the Wisconsin State Journal that his first name means "the explosion of awareness of the interconnectedness of the infinite love in the universe," and Doo-doo "is the struggle of our daily lives with that awareness, that with love comes chaos."
Zopittybop-bop-bop has made headlines before in 2012 and 2013 for arrests in other states.
