HOUSTON - The Houston Better Business Bureau was flooded with calls after our investigation into some local moving companies last week.
President Dan Parsons said the bureau received more than 200 calls from consumers inquiring about moving companies in the 24 hours after our investigations aired.
The companies we featured are in a lot of hot water. A1 All Around Movers has already been fined $30,000 and its moving license is in the the process of being revoked by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, but we've learned there are more fines and penalties coming down the pike. The fine was assessed for just one of nine pending investigations into A1 All Around and its owners, Robert and Marie Lawler.
Homeowner Nikki Howard called Local 2 when she caught two men working with S&S Starving Student Movers stealing her belongings, including guns, while they were moving her. Both men were arrested and pleaded guilty to theft. Michael Reyes, 35, got nine months in jail. He'll be released in May. In the meantime, the Texas DMV is investigating four separate complaints against S & S Starving Student Movers.
