Bank robbery leads to school lockdowns

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Two schools were locked down for about an hour Friday while deputies searched for a bank robbery suspect.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said a man robbed a Capital One Bank on Highway 6 near South Voss about 1:50 p.m. Friday.

Detectives said an armed man handed tellers a bag and demanded they fill it with cash.

Shortly after the robbery, the Fort Bend Independent placed two nearby schools, Kempner High School, 14777 Voss Road, and Drabek Elementary, 11325 Lake Woodbridge, were placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted about 3 p.m.

The robber was last seen wearing a suit, sunglasses, a floppy hat and a blue or dark blue bandanna.
