PEARLAND, Texas – A Pearland mother is thankful for a police officer's actions after she helped the woman's baby during an unknown medical complication. To show her gratitude, the woman named her new baby after Pearland police Officer Natisha Lucas.

According to the Pearland Police Department, Lucas responded to a call on Aug. 23 at the 12000 block of Shadow Creek Parkway.

When Lucas arrived, she went to the second floor of the home where the woman unexpectedly gave birth.

"The mother (still in shock) directed officer Lucas' attention to the newly born baby who was experiencing an unknown medical complication," police said.

Lucas administered first aid, in which the baby started moving and crying. Pearland EMS arrived and treated the mother and baby and transported them to Memorial Hermann for medical evaluation.

When Lucas visited the mother and the baby at the hospital, the mother told Lucas that she had named her baby girl A'Miracle Natisha.

"Great job Officer Lucas! Another great example of our awesome Pearland PD!" Yvette Gomez Mullally wrote.

"Awww, I am definitely Pearland proud right now," Crystal Odom said.

Both mother and baby are resting comfortably.
