CYPRESS, Texas -

Rush hour drivers witnessed a scary accident in Cypress after an SUV rear-ended a school bus and erupted in flames, spreading the fire to the bus with a driver and 16 students on board.

The crash happened Wednesday at Greenhouse Road and Clay.

"They were scared, they were like shook up," said witness Olga Shuminov. "The parents were running across the street."

Shuminov was working outside her dry cleaning business when the crash occurred and she witnessed the whole thing. In addition to the bus and SUV, a red car was damaged after the impact from the SUV driving the bus into the car.

Witnesses said the SUV driver momentarily was trapped inside, but was able to crawl out through the flames.

"He crawled out the car and it mostly hit the passenger (side)," said Shuminov. "But he crawled out the car and then the kids. I guess the bus driver got them help so they got of the bus and it started catching on fire."

In spite of the chaos, the bus driver was able to get all the students off the bus with no critical injuries reported.

"It could've been worse," said Shuminov. "I'm so glad everybody at least survived."

A spokesperson with Cy-Fair ISD said the students were all from Cy Lakes High School. One student was transported to the hospital along with the bus driver.
