HOUSTON -

At least 10 units were damaged by a massive fire at a Cypress Station apartment complex.

It started around 11:45 p.m. Friday at a complex in the 17700 block of Red Oak Drive.

Ponderosa, Spring, and Klein Fire Departments all responded and found heavy flames pouring from the second floor, so they pulled a second alarm.

Firefighters said they made a fast attack and managed to keep the fire contained to one part of the building.

According to the Ponderosa Fire Chief, the fire started accidentally in the kitchen of a second floor unit.

In total, at least 10 units were damaged by fire, smoke, or water, firefighters said.

One elderly woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation; one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.

Firefighters said the Red Cross responded to help families displaced by the fire.
