At least 1 hurt in drive-by shooting at north Houston apartment complex

Witnesses say as many as 4 people may have been injured

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating drive-by shooting at a north Houston apartment complex.

Witnesses at the Columbia Greens Apartments on W. Greens Drive said someone drove through the parking lot and opened fire around 7:15 p.m. Friday.

"Everyone was just relaxing over there and it was a truck that drove by and they shot," said 18-year-old Quevonte Leggins. "The guy that was shot, he was one of my close friends, and he was on my stairs and he was all wounded."

Leggins said his 17-year-old friend was shot in the leg. He said an ambulance rushed his friend to the hospital in unknown condition, but witnesses told Local 2 others were shot too.

"(Another) guy who got shot hopped in another guy's car to go to the hospital," Leggins said.

A Buick sedan was seen arriving at Houston Northwest Medical reportedly carrying at least two other victims.

A black sedan, allegedly belonging to one of the victims, sat in the complex parking lot with bullet holes. Police snapped pictures of it for evidence.

"I've never experienced that," Leggins said. "Someone that close to me getting shot. It was kind of scary to see (my friend) like that."

Witnesses told Local 2 as many as four people may have been injured. Their conditions were unknown Friday evening. There is no description of the shooter.
