Zein Imran Ahmed charged with murder

HOUSTON – A man has been arrested in connection with a mother's slaying in north Harris County.

Zein Imran Ahmed, 20, has been charged with murder.

According to court documents, Ahmed told investigators that the victim's 16-year-old daughter let him into her mother's home in the 8300 block of Poplar Ridge about 1 a.m. Monday.

Detectives said Ahmed went into the 48-year-old mother's bedroom, got on top of her and stabbed her multiple times.

The mother died at the scene. Her name has not been released.

The knife used in the killing was found inside the home, according to court documents.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the 16-year-old girl called 911 shortly after the attack and claimed that two men broke into the house. She said that she claimed that she and her mother were in bed when the men broke in, investigators said.

A neighbor said he saw the teen run out from her back yard moments after he heard glass breaking. The neighbor said the teen was holding a knife in her hand.

Detectives have not said if the teen will be charged in connection with the killing.

Ahmed is being held in the Harris County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
