Armed man robs bank in West University Place

HOUSTON – An armed man robbed a bank in West University Place, getting away with an unknown amount of cash.

It happened in the 4100 block of Bellaire Boulevard around 3 p.m. on May 19.

Police said the robber walked into the bank with a gun in his right hand and a bag in his left.

He forced everyone out of their offices and into the main lobby with their hands raised, police said.

The gunman allegedly demanded cash from an employee, who complied. Police said the robber threw the money into the bag and drove off, possibly in a light green 2009 Ford Explorer Trac.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, weighing approximately 135-165 pounds. Police said he was wearing dark-colored clothing and black and white shoes at the time of the crime.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
