Argument leads to deadly hit-and-run crash in southeast Houston, police say

HOUSTON – A man was killed Thursday in what police said was an intentional hit-and-run in southeast Houston.

According to police, the 33-year-old man and his wife got into argument with his wife in a parking lot on Winkler Drive at Howard around 9 p.m.

The man walked into the road, stopped traffic and got into an argument with a the driver of a pickup truck, police said. The man jumped on the hood of the vehicle, the driver swerved back and forth to try to get the man off, police said.

According to investigators, when the man fell of the truck the driver ran him over. 

Witnesses told police a pickup truck barreled through, slammed into the man and kept going.

He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he died.

Several Houston police officers reconstructed the crash and said they believe it was not an accident.

One witness said he knew right away it was not an accident.

"When I looked up, I saw the truck running over him, literally like it was a speed bump. (The driver) kept going, didn't slow down, no brake lights or nothing," Francis Martin said.

Police describe the truck as a dark-colored Ford with tinted windows.
