Tuesday evening promises to be quieter than Tuesday afternoon. Heavy downpours will wither on the vine as evening progresses, leaving us with a quiet overnight.
Temperatures will hover in the mid to upper 70s all night and, once again, extremely muggy conditions will persist.
Wednesday promises another round of heavy downpours. Abundant tropical moisture continues to move into the region from the Gulf of Mexico. That, combined with daytime heating and a series of weak upper-atmospheric disturbances moving across the state, provides for a perfect scenario for heavy rain and potential flooding.
Temperatures on Wednesday will reach 88 to 90 degrees by early afternoon before showers and storms develop and put a lid on any further warming. Rain will be most likely between lunch time and early evening. Expect widespread 1/2 to one inch rain totals, with isolated areas getting 2 to 4 inches. In areas where the rain is the heaviest, expect flooding.
