Another suspect has been arrested in the armed robbery of a smoke shop in the Ponderosa Forest area.
Baron Vertis Pinson, 17, was charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.
Harris County investigators said four men drove up to the “High Tymes Smoke Shop” in the 1600 block of W. FM 1960 around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 8.
Three suspects with their faces covered got out of a white Chevrolet and walked inside the store holding automatic weapons, investigators said. They pointed their guns at the employees and stole cash and other items from the store.
Deputies said the suspects hopped back into the Chevy and were speeding away from the scene when the driver suddenly lost control and crashed into a wooden utility pole.
All four men jumped out and tried to run away, but deputies were right behind them.
They managed to catch the driver, Montrel Quarles, but the other three escaped.
Police learned the three remaining suspects fled south toward an Inn Towne Suites Motel. Witnesses saw them dumping items in a dumpster on the property.
Deputies said they recovered an SKS rifle used in the robbery, one pistol, and a large quantity of marijuana believed also to be taken in the robbery.
When detectives interviewed the shop owner, he said the robbers took cash and a Play Station gaming system, but denied having any marijuana in the business.
Quarles allegedly admitted to being the getaway driver, but said he did so under duress.
Further investigation led police to identify Stinson and other possible accomplices.
