GALVESTON, Texas -

Galveston Police have canceled an Amber Alert for 6-year-old Tiana Duarte and her sister, 10-year-old Makayla Duarte.

Police said they disappeared around 8 a.m. Friday and were believed to be with their mother, Marisol Duarte.  She was last seen in Galveston picking up Tiana at Parker Elementary School at 69th and Jones Drive, and Makayla, who was picked up at Busy Body Day Care at 6904 Lasker Drive.

According to authorities, the mother lost custody of the girls and has a history of drug use and mental health issues.

However, authorities said Duarte dropped the girls off at their grandmother's house; both girls were found safe around 9 p.m. Friday.
