HOUSTON – The Harris County District Attorney's Office is investigating an alleged death threat against a Houston City Council member.

Al Hoang, who represents District F, called police Saturday and said that Etienne Nguyen, his former political opponent, and other protesters were blocking the street in front of his house.

The officers dispersed the protesters, but they were called back to the home about 30 minutes later.

Hoang told officers that Nguyen returned to his home with a pistol and threatened, in Vietnamese, to kill Hoang and his family, police said.

The case was referred to the district attorney's office.

No charges have been filed in the case.

KPRC Local 2 was unable to reach Hoang for comment.

Nguyen ran against Hoang in 2011 and was defeated.
