Man accused of using sleight of hand to swipe nearly $2,000 worth of jewelry

CYPRESS, Texas – A local business owner put out surveillance video of a man he said stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from his Cypress store in early November.

Mike Cauthen, owner of Vickie Lynn's, said he is worried about what this crime means for the neighborhood.

He said the man came into his store in early November and was very friendly and animated -- talking to the store employees and not acting suspiciously.

Cauthen said that man left the store without paying for nearly $2,000 worth of jewelry he slipped into his pockets.

"He was very smooth," Cauthen said.
