HOUSTON -

The man charged with murder in the death of a pregnant woman is due in court on Tuesday.

Officials say Maria Lucrecia, 27, was working as a janitor at Eclipse Gentleman’s Club southwest Houston, when she was attacked and killed on March 22. She was five months pregnant.

Osvaldo Fernandez-Aguilar, 23, was caught on April 3 in Cancun, Mexico and brought back to Houston by U.S. Marshals.

Officials said Fernandez-Aguilar was about to board a boat heading to Cuba at the time of his arrest.

Detectives say Fernandez-Aguilar broke into the club, beat and strangled Lucrecia, and then stole cash from the register.

Fernandez-Aguilar is charged with capital murder. His first court appearance at the criminal courthouse is scheduled for Tuesday.
