Accused burglar fights police, runs off with Taser, officials say

HOUSTON – An accused burglar was arrested Thursday after putting up a fight with police.

Investigators said there was a scuffle after he tried to break into a home in north Houston on Rainy River and Sunnywood around 2 a.m.

Hosuton police said a homeowner flagged down an officer because a man was trying to break into his house. The officer confronted the suspected robber and police say the two began to struggle. The man reportedly managed to rip away the officer's taser and ran off.

"The officer and the citizens in the area started chasing the suspect. We deployed our K9 and helicopter," Houston police Lt. Larry Crowson said. "Between everybody, we were about to get the suspect in custody."
