AUSTIN -

Texas has been on the front line in the national war over abortion, and after several hours on Tuesday, the House provisionally approved the abortion bill.

In a sometimes graphic debate, the Texas House squared off on a bill that would ban abortions after 20 weeks.

A final, and formal vote is scheduled for Wednesday.

The abortion bill was provisionally passed Tuesday night with 98 ayes and 49 nays.

It's a version of the same bill that Sen. Wendy Davis famously filibustered in June.

Texas is one of a dozen other states banning abortions at 20 weeks.
