Harris County Sheriff's deputies were investigating a fatal shooting at a motel Thursday night.

Investigators said a woman was fatally shot in the head inside a motel room at the Scottish Inn and Suites on Jones Road near FM 1960 in northwest Harris County. They said it happened at about 7 p.m. and the murder weapon was found nearby.

The department was trying to figure out if she was shot and killed by someone else, or if she killed herself.

Detectives were looking at surveillance video from the hotel and had not found a suspect.
