A woman was run over and killed Friday after an argument with two men outside a southwest Houston apartment.
Investigators said two women were in the back seat of a Dodge Charger with two men in the front after leaving a party at 4:50 a.m. As the driver approached the Bellerive Garden Apartments on Bellerive Drive at Fondren Road, there was a struggle inside the vehicle, officials said.
"The girl was being held," said Kevin Carr with HPD Homicide.
One of the women cried out for help and managed to call her brother.
"Somewhere in there, obviously, there was a call to somebody, and the brother was waiting for them when they got there with a stick in his hand. And I believe that's how the window got broken out," Carr said.
The victim's brother shattered the back window to try and save his sister, police said.
"Somehow she leaves the vehicle and it looks like she rolled on the pavement," Carr said.
The car then rolled on top of her, crushing her body.
The driver escaped and police said they have a lot of unanswered questions. The other man and woman who were in the car, along with the victim's brother, have been taken in for questioning.
The victim's name was not released.
