Humble police are searching for a man with distinctive tattoos who is accused of attacking and raping a leasing agent while she was giving him an apartment tour.
The attack happened at the Rankin Country apartments on Rankin Road Thursday morning.
Police said the man asked to view an apartment. The leasing agent took the man on tour and as soon as they were alone, she was attacked and sexual assaulted, investigators said.
Christopher Weit lives next across the street from the front office and heard the commotion.
"I was taking the trash out and on my way back, I seen the police cars pulling up and the lady coming out of the office," Weit said.
"She looked scared. She looked real scared, like something happened," he added.
The Orozzo family also lives nearby and said they won't feel safe until the suspect is caught.
"There was a lot of police cars," said Jose Orozzo. "I feel a little nervous because we don't really know what happened."
Police said the suspect is Hispanic, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and thin with braided hair and some distinctive tattoos. One on his neck says "no love" and there are three letters tattooed on his face underneath his right eye, according to the victim.
The man drove away in a small black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Blazer, with a dent in the driver's side door.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
