Woman found dead in bathtub; missing boy found
Questions remained Monday after a woman was found dead and partially clothed in her southwest Houston bathtub. Meanwhile, her 7-year-old son who was believed to be missing was found safe with family members, police said.
Police said someone called 911 to report a home invasion at 10211 Cherry Limb Drive at 3:25 a.m. When officers arrived, they kicked in the door and found Lashonda Moye, 37, dead in the tub. She was partially clothed and her boyfriend, Nathan Mitchell, was sitting in the tub with her.
"Patrol officers responded and found them both in the bathtub. (He was) incoherent. Both were transported," said Roy Swainson with the Houston Police Department. "She was dead on arrival. He was transported and hopefully he can shed some light at what took place out here."
Police said Moye's death was suspicious, but she had no obvious signs of trauma.
Mitchell's injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Moye had two sons -- Mekhi Coleman, 7, and an 18-year-old.
"We know that the 7-year-old lives here. He is not here in the house so I think it's important that we find out where that child is," Swainson said earlier.
Police said the boy was with relatives and found a few hours later.
Neighbors were shocked at the death.
"I heard some commotion this morning early around 12:30 or 1 a.m., and I was going to look out. I wish I did," neighbor Beth Paquio said.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
Officials said Moye and Mitchell had been dating for about 9 months.
