Woman finds dynamite in package
SAPD investigating where explosives came from, no one injured
San Antonio police and fire investigators hope to solve a mystery involving what looks like a box of dynamite that ended up at a northeast-side home.
Police received a 911 call around 10 p.m. Sunday from a woman who said she brought the box home from a thrift store.
She opened it and found what looked like an explosive device inside. The woman placed the device in her mailbox and alerted authorities.
Investigators said about half a dozen sticks of dynamite and a detonator were inside the box.
The bomb squad was called to the home on Lost Trail and an entire block near Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel was evacuated.
The bomb squad blew up part of the device and took it back to a lab for further investigation.
No one was injured and residents were allowed back into their homes around midnight.
