Woman: 'Implants saved my life'
A woman credited her record-setting breast implants for saving her life in a car crash.
Sheyla Hersey, 32, crashed her Ford Mustang at the intersection of Ford and Needham earlier this week. She said she was driving to pick up her husband after a Super Bowl party when she lost control of her car and slammed into a tree.
Hersey, who reportedly spent $100,000 on her T38KKK breasts, said their size acted as air cushions in the crash.
"I think my breasts saved my life," Hersey told Barcroft Media, a London-based media company.
Hersey said she wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Dr. Franklin Rose, a plastic surgeon who has not treated Hersey, said her story is interesting but very unlikely.
"I've seen airbag injuries, seat belt injuries. It's quite a stretch to say that the implants saved her life," said Rose.
Hersey is charged with driving under the influence but denied the charge in court Monday.
"The accident was bad and my boobs are sore but they protected the rest of me," the married mother told Barcroft.
Hersey refused comment to KPRC Local 2. Her attorney has not returned phone calls.
Hersey originally held the world record for 38MM breasts implants, but lost them to a life-threatening infection. However, she told Barcroft she plans to have them pumped back up.
