A woman was flown to a hospital after she was burned when a north Harris County home caught fire.
Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables said a home in the 23000 block of Treehouse near Lucida went up in flames about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When firefighters arrived, the front of the house was consumed by flames.
"It was coming out of her garage and windows, just shooting out of the top," neighbor Janelle Hiser said. "I couldn't see because there was so much smoke."
Crews rushed into the home and found a woman, believed to be in her 50s, inside the home.
The woman was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. According to the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, the woman suffered burns over 50 percent of her body. She was going in and out of consciousness when she was transported.
Detectives said the fire started in the home's garage. The exact cause of the blaze is under investigation.
