Woman arrested in connection with 4-year-old's death
Laura Lea Kolb, 36, accused of shoving child to floor, throwing her on bed
Police say a woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her boyfriend's 4-year-old child.
Santa Fe police said the incident occurred Saturday in the 11900 block of 16th Street.
Officials said they received a frantic 911 call after 4 a.m. Saturday, stating a 4-year-old child was not responding.
Officers and EMS responded to the area and found Kevin Moore holding his daughter, Taylor Gene Moore, officials said.
Afterwards, officers and EMS immediately began treating the apparently lifeless child, and authorities said she was transported to Mainland Center Hospital with EMS and paramedics performing CPR.
Taylor was pronounced dead at 5:08 a.m..
Investigators believe 36-year-old Laura Lea Kolb, Kevin's live-in girlfriend, had inflicted physical injuries on Taylor.
After an evening of drinking, investigators said Kolb was upset with Kevin. He had left the apartment to avoid conflict and was said he was visiting friends near the downstairs unit
Kolb had also gone downstairs and injured herself, falling on the stairs as she went back up.
Angry and injured and for reasons unknown yet, investigators said Kolb apparently focused her anger towards Taylor.
Kolb admitted to police shoving Taylor to the floor, then throwing her on the bed.
Kolb has been charged with first degree felony injury to a child, with a bond of $250,000. Police said additional charges may be added after the investigation is completed and autopsy results are received.
