A west Houston woman is accused of burning a boy's hands on a hot griddle to punish him.
Maria Dolores Guevara is charged with injury to a child.
According to court documents, the incident happened inside a west Houston apartment in December. The 8 year-old boy said Guevara pressed both of his hands on top of a hot griddle on a stove for about two minutes, according to court documents.
Police said Guevara had accused the boy of stealing a PlayStation Portable. The child said Guevara threatened to burn his tongue if he told anyone about the incident with his hands, investigators said.
The boy's hands were red and swollen after the incident. Laterm someone at school noticed his injuries after he kept scratching his hands.
Child Protective Services referred the case to police.
Guevara was arrested and her bond was set at $55,000.
