A driver was seriously injured on a south Houston Freeway Monday after racing, witnesses told officers.
The crash happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday on Highway 288 near MacGregor Way. Officials said a man driving a dark blue sedan was racing before he lost control and crashed into an underpass. A white car also crashed.
The driver of the sedan was taken to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said. His name was not released.
The second driver, Jerry Quiroa, 18, was taken into custody and charged with racing causing serious bodily injury, a felony.
All the northbound lanes were closed during the investigation.
