Winn-Dixie stores announced an immediate voluntary recall of all LEASA Living Alfalfa Sprouts sold after the Federal Drug Administration found that the product is potentially contaminated with Salmonella.

In a news release, the FDA said the sprouts being recalled were sold between Jan. 7, 2012, and Jan. 18, 2012, and have expirations dates between Feb. 1, 2012, and March 15, 2012.  

The sprouts were sold in stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana in 6 oz. packages with a UPC code of 7546555912.

Out of an abundance of caution, Winn-Dixie said it was also recalling the following LEASA-branded sprouts from shelves in all stores:

4 ounce Packages of LEASA Broccoli Sprouts - UPC code: 7546555636

4 ounce packages of LEASA Gourmet Sprouts - UPC code: 7546555633

6 ounce packages of LEASA Spicy Sprouts - UPC code: 7546555635

6 ounce packages of LEASA Onion Sprouts - UPC code: 7546555634

Winn-Dixie said it has received no reports of illness associated with LEASA branded sprouts consumption.
Customers were urged to return the recalled items, or proof of purchase to Winn-Dixie stores for a full refund.
