It is normal for women to gain 15 to 35 pounds during pregnancy, but after giving birth it is hard for many mothers to take off the excess weight.
Because busy new moms do not always have time for the gym or proper meal planning, south Florida personal trainer, Michelle Marie Diaz, created a web-based diet and exercise program that can be done right at home.
It is called "Be Fit Moms." The program helps mothers reach their goals with a 20-minute at-home exercise routine that is constantly changing.
Debbie Pravato said the program had her eating more and exercising less. She has lost six pounds in a month, and plans to lose 10 more.
"You can lose weight, you can enjoy what you eat you can be healthy and be a mom. You can work full time. You can do it all if you just learn the proper way to do it," said Pravato.
"I use a lot of compound movements -- movements that work a lot of muscles because the more muscles you work, the more calories you burn," said Diaz.
The Be Fit Moms program also includes a week's worth of menus and a meal planning shopping list. Diaz helps clients avoid overeating by making food interesting, such as topping a chicken breast with a sprinkle of crushed walnuts and feta cheese.
