Water creeps into homes in Spring
Some residents in a south Montgomery neighborhood had lots of cleaning up to do after heavy rains caused their homes to flood.
The water came up quickly in the Timber Lakes/Timber Ridge subdivision in the Spring area.
Some of the homes sit between Spring and Panther creeks. When the water started to rise, residents were trapped in their homes before they realized what was happening.
Mary Miltiev was almost trapped in her home.
"Fifteen minutes," she said. "Almost waist-deep. I had to get out through the window because I couldn't get out through the back door."
Militev's husband went in to survey the damage. There was a little over 2 feet of water inside.
"I work for this all my life to have something nice," Ivan Militev said. "All that, it's all gone."
Volunteer firefighters said about a dozen homes were inundated with water at the height of the flooding.
Jenny Crider and Pat Patterson were got caught in floodwaters when they were driving home from shopping.
"Dump truck brought us both through," Crider said.
"At one point, I almost got washed away," Patterson said.
