Pearland police have released surveillance video of an armed suspect who walked into a hotel early in the morning on March 30.

The hotel lobby of the Comfort Suites was filled with guests and an employee when a gunman, shown in the video, walked in and fired his weapon.

The man approached the front counter and pointed a gun at the frightened clerk. Video shows the armed robber going behind the front desk and taking money out of the register.

While he grabs the money, the clerk can be seen running to a back room and locking herself inside. As the gunman was leaving the crime scene, the crook fired his weapon.

A bullet struck one of the doors inside the hotel lobby.

"The glass is broken right here, and the shooter jumped across the counter and his gun discharged, shooting the bullet this way," said General Manager Manish Patel.

The broken class can be fixed, but Patel is more worried about his front desk clerk who came face to face with the man pointing a pistol at her.

The clerk said she is now too frightened to return to work.

"She has been scarred. She's going to be going through counseling and stuff like that," said Patel.

Pearland police have no idea who the armed gunman is, but they're concerned because his actions are dangerous and the man doesn't appear to be worried about the security cameras located just about the hotel's front desk.

"It's a very brazen robbery," said Lt. Onesimo Lopez. "He comes in with no disguise and no gloves with no other intention than to commit this robbery."

The man got away with about $400 in cash. For Patel, it's the first time one of his family's hotels has been robbed at gunpoint, but he feels worse that it put his employee in harms way.

"It's just horrific," said Patel. "We try to keep our employees safe and it's crazy that people are there for a couple of hundred dollars cause more damage and frightened employees for their life than anything else."

Pearland police are trying to figure out if the suspect is involved in any other hotel robberies and get him off the streets as soon as possible.
