HOUSTON -

Police are searching for clues in the killing of a transmission shop owner.

Investigators said Roy Scott, 50, was found shot to death inside his transmission shop in the 7000 block of North Shepherd Saturday at 9:25 a.m.

Ruth Portillo lives next door to Scott's family, and said she was one of the last people to see him alive in their neighborhood.

"We saw Mr. Scott just, you know, pulling up and going inside his garage," Portillo said. "Then came back inside his truck and left."

Family and friends gathered at the scene Saturday, struggling to understand why someone would take Scott's life.

Police said so far, they have no witnesses or leads on a motive.

Family and friends said whoever is responsible left Scott's cell phone and wallet at the scene, but may have taken his work truck.

Police are asking anyone with information on this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
