HOUSTON -

Authorities are investigating after a train hit a car in southeast Houston on Tuesday.

It happened at Almeda and Gamas.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital, authorities said. His condition was not immediately known.

Officials said the car was stopped on the track and the train blew its whistle and flashed its lights before the impact.

A Union Pacific Railroad spokesperson said there were stop signs and a railroad warning sign at the crossing.

This is the third accident involving a train and vehicle in the area in the last three days.
