Tomball man competes in 'hottest dad' contest
University of Houston professor is a semi-finalist
A Tomball man is a finalist for iVillage's Hottest Dad in America contest.
There's no where else Justin Hackett would rather be, than at home with his three sons and wife. But gracing the Web and TV, as one of the hottest dad's in America, is not too far down his list.
From their Tomball home, Hackett's wife, Mandy, saw the Hottest Dad in America iVillage photo contest on the Today Show and wanted the world to see what she see's in her husband.
"I do think he is very physically attractive, but watching him as a father, now he's that much more attractive to me," said Mandy Hackett.
Justin Hackett said his wife didn't tell him about the contest until he was already a semifinalist. A panel of four judges chose the semifinalists in 11 categories, including "hot military dad," "hot single dad," even "hot tattooed dad" and more.
Mandy Hackett knew exactly where her husband would fit. As a psychology professor at the University of Houston Downtown, the "hot teacher dad" category was his to claim.
"I really enjoy my students," said Justin Hackett. "That's the greatest part about my job. I really like being in the classroom."\
When voting then opened to the public, the masses seemed to agree. He won his category and humbly accepted his title.
"It felt good," he said. "I felt like Mandy had really rallied the troops to get the votes in."
Now he, his family, even their neighbors, will be watching the Today Show on June 12 to see the grand prize announcement. They hope iVillage's Hottest Dad is their hometown favorite.
The hot dad individual category winners received $300 Target gift cards. The overall hottest dad in America will win a grand prize that includes a Royal Caribbean cruise and a $500 Target gift card.
Justin Hackett said if he wins the grand prize, he plans to take the cruise with his wife and use the gift card on his kids. With three boys under the age of four, he says the card will buy diapers, food and clothes.
