Amber Alert issued for girl, 2

PASADENA, Texas -

A 2-year-old girl was safe Wednesday and two people were taken into custody after an Amber Alert was issued for the toddler.

Pasadena police said Melanie Mireles was last seen with her babysitter, Jessica Garcia, 29, at a Walmart in the 1100 block of Shaver at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said the boyfriend of the baby's mom searched areas where the babysitter was known to visit and spotted a car accident. The toddler was in the car so he took her back to her mother, officials said.

Two people were taken in for questioning. The babysitter was apprehended with criminal charges pending, investigators said.

Mireles was not injured.

The Amber Alert was canceled at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
