An 18-month-old girl drowned in pond in Liberty County Tuesday morning.

Liberty County sheriff's deputies said a family was enjoying their morning at a home along F.M. 1008 near Highway 321 and the toddler wandered off about 9 a.m.

"You can't take your eyes off of them for one second," said Capt. Rex Evans with the Liberty County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said Lindsay Reeves noticed her daughter, Stormy, was missing within 2 minutes.  She immediately began to look for her, officials said.

Reeves found Stormy facedown, floating in a pond beside the home, detectives said. She immediately called 911.

Deputies gave Stormy CPR until an ambulance arrived.

"The entire family was distraught," Evans said. "This was definitely hard on all of the responding personnel, too."

Stormy was rushed to a hospital in Cleveland, where she died a short time later.
