Thousands enjoy tailgating before playoff game
Tailgaters party before playoff
Thousands of Texans fans enjoyed a pregame tradition of tailgating before the Texans' first playoff game in history Saturday.
Barbecue smoke filled the air as tailgating teams cooked up all types of food and provided drinks in the Reliant Stadium parking lot.
Some tailgater rigs were larger than others.
"It's a 28-foot tailgater with a full kitchen on it. So we come out to every single game and have a great time," a tailgater said.
Six former Tailgaters of the Year battled for the Tailgater of the Decade award, sponsored by H-E-B.
"It's for our hometown. It's the same setup we do week in and week out," a tailgater said. "We feel good about it. It's big. It's big."
"We've got spirit, baby," said a member of the Raging Bull tailgating team. "We party hard and we love our Texans."
The tailgating team, Battle Red Wagon, is the only two-time winner of Tailgater of the Year.
"It's family, friends," said Ricky Brasuell with Battle Red. "It's the crowd that makes this happen. We do the work. Y'all make the party happen."
Battle Red Wagon came in second place Saturday.
Raging Bull came in first place.
