Honda owners have seen a spike in thefts. Police say their cars are easy to steal.
San Francisco Police Department Sergeant Steve Witte said 2005 Honda Accords and older models have become a major target. The main target is the parts inside the car.
Officials said thieves don't need a special key or tool to steal the cars.
"Key becomes worn, ignition becomes worn, you pretty much take any Honda key and walk to any Honda to start that vehicle," Witte said.
If you have a 2005 Honda or an older model, there are safety measures you can take to make sure your car doesn't end up on a lucrative black market. Buy a club which locks your steering wheel or install your own security system.
