A northwest Harris County resident woke up to find his pickup truck on bricks and some of his tires and rims gone.
"Around 4 o'clock this morning, my dogs were barking and a neighbor actually called -- they seen them out there," Jaime Mendoza said.
While Mendoza was sleeping in his home in the 11300 block of Huffmeister, at least two men jacked up his pickup truck. The thieves took his tires and 26-inch rims, he said.
"Maybe close to $3,000 for all of them," he said.
Mendoza said the thieves also got his wallet, a touch-screen radio, monitors that were in his visors, a speaker box and a guitar.
Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables set up a perimeter and spotted the thieves' getaway car. The tires and rims were inside that car, investigators said.
Deputy constables said they did not find the thieves, but they've got some good leads, including fingerprints that were left on the rims.
Mendoza said he was thankful that one of his neighbors was looking out for him.
"If he wouldn't had called, I would have come out and everything would have been gone," Mendoza said.
Mendoza said another resident down the street also had his tires and rims stolen.
